Raw Footage Lab wasn't born from a business idea. It was born from frustration.
Back in 2026, I decided to learn video editing. Like most beginners, I watched countless YouTube tutorials, followed every editing tip I could find, and spent hours trying to improve. But I kept running into one problem that nobody seemed to talk about.
I had nothing worth editing.
Sure, there were free stock videos online, but they didn't feel like real client work. They were overused, unrealistic, and honestly, no client wants to see the same generic stock clips in your portfolio. I could make decent edits, but the footage itself made everything look amateur.
Every time I applied for a video editing job, I already knew what the answer would be.
Not because I couldn't edit.
Because my portfolio didn't look real.
It was one of the most discouraging parts of learning. I wasn't lacking motivation — I was lacking opportunity.
Then something unexpected happened.
I got a chance to work with a math educator from the United States. The opportunity came because we connected over academics — I had scored a 92 percentile in the JEE Main exam, and that conversation eventually led to my first editing project. He trusted me to edit his YouTube Shorts, and I charged $20 per video.
It wasn't a huge client.
But it changed everything.
For the first time, I was editing real footage for a real creator. My portfolio finally looked like actual work instead of practice projects. I learned more from those few videos than I had from months of editing stock clips.
After earning around $85, I could have spent the money on myself.
Instead, I invested it into something I wished had existed when I was starting out.
That's how Raw Footage Lab was born.
My mission is simple: give aspiring editors access to high-quality, real-world practice footage so they can build portfolios they're proud of, gain confidence, and land the opportunities they deserve.
Because talent shouldn't be limited by the footage you have access to.
If Raw Footage Lab helps even one editor skip the struggle I went through, then every hour spent building it will have been worth it.

Professional raw footage compatible with industry-standard editing software
Our Mission
Raw Footage Lab was built to solve a simple problem: finding genuine, high-quality footage for editing practice is surprisingly hard. Most "free footage" sites offer heavily processed or pre-graded clips that don't teach you real color grading or modern editing workflows.
We believe the best way to learn professional video editing is with professional source material. That's why every clip in our directory is curated to provide:
- Real Grading Latitude: We source ungraded, Log-profile clips (S-Log, V-Log, C-Log) so you can actually practice color correction.
- Direct Access: Curated directly from YouTube — no wait times, no redirects, and no paywalls.
- Completely Free: No accounts, no subscriptions, and no attribution required to use the site.
